UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland
UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland cares for more than 240,000 patients annually. A significant percentage of its patients come from under-served communities who are often under or uninsured. It is one of only five ACS Pediatric Level I Trauma Centers in the state, and has one of the largest pediatric intensive care units in Northern California. The hospital’s research arm is internationally known for its basic and clinical research, developing treatments and cures using emerging techniques that impact children worldwide. More information on UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland can be found at www.childrenshospitaloakland.org.
George Mark Children’s House
George Mark Children’s House (GMCH) in San Leandro is the first free-standing pediatric palliative care house in the United States. Founded in 2004, GMCH provides the comfort of home with the medical care of a top-notch hospital. GMCH exists to serve families with children who are chronically ill with a life-limiting illness and offers respite, transitional, end-of-life care, and bereavement support in a life-affirming setting. The organization's vision is that of a changed society in which no child suffers or dies in an institutional environment, separated from their family. Further information on George Mark Children’s House can be found at www.georgemark.org.
Children’s Health Guild (CHG), a 501(c)(3) not‐for‐profit organization, is dedicated to improving the quality of and access to pediatric medical care in the East Bay.
Founded in 2011 and comprised of approximately 50 talented and passionate East Bay Area women, CHG has raised $2,000,000 for its two beneficiaries, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (UBCHO) and George Mark Children’s House (GMCH). Together, these two facilities provide the full cycle of medical care for children including: emergency care, on‐going treatment, transitional, respite and palliative care.
